This month we are proud to say we have all the gear! Puns aside, we have a mouth-watering selection of mechanical marvels for all you gearheads out there, including a very rare three truck Climax and a standard gauge Shay! Narrow gauge Shays in all shapes and sizes, alcohol fired, butane and electric, who could ask for more? For those of you who prefer a more traditional style of steam engine, we will be putting out a mid-month update with an exciting selection of narrow gauge stock featuring many locomotives from small builders.
Aster Western Maryland three-cylinder, three-truck Shay, Black, 1:32 scale. Standard gauge Shays are rarely modelled and Aster certainly did this one justice. The model is in used condition but has been fully serviced and checked. The locomotive features three trucks, three cylinders with Stephenson type valve gear and is butane fired with two safety valves, pressure gauge, water gauge and check valve. It is equipped with a hand pump in the tender and an axle pump and comes with its original Aster assembly and operating instructions. What a beast! £3500.00
Accucraft AL88-341 West Side Lumber, three truck Shay, electric, 1:20.3 scale. Genuinely in perfect condition, only unboxed for photos. One of only a handful imported into the UK – £2500.00
Accucraft 3 Cylinder Shay, Mich Cal #5, black, gas fired, 1:20.3 scale. This a truly immaculate model, very little run and in excellent condition. Supplied with its original outer packaging and inner metal frame – £2350.00
Aster Class B three-cylinder Shay (original series), black, 1:22.5 scale with original Aster wooden box. A used but well-maintained example of an older Aster. The model is alcohol fired and features Stephenson type valve gear and slide valves, twin safety valves, blower, water check vale and water gauge and a pressure gauge. Aster Class B three-cylinder Shay (2010 series), black, 1:22.5 scale. This rendering of Aster’s Shay was redesigned and released in 2010 with improved detail, butane firing and an axle pump. The model is in used condition and comes with the original build manual and operating instructions – £1950.00
Aster C&NRY three-truck Climax, black, 1:24 scale with original Aster box. Climaxes of any type are hard to come by these days, the Accucraft versions are much sought-after and the Aster three-truck variant even more so. If you fancy a triple Climax this may be your last chance for a while! The model features Stephenson type valve gear, butane firing, a hand pump in the tender with the facility to mount RC in the rear ‘tender’.
